5. You receive calls from collection companies

If you are paying your bills regularly and you still get calls from companies asking you to pay, then it is a definite red flag. This is a sure shot case of identity theft. The bill in such cases is more than you are aware of.

6. You are not given a loan

If you are a busy person then you may not have enough time to go and check with the bank regularly. You may go to the bank one fine day to ask for loan to buy a car or a house, and the bank would deny it stating that there have been problems in your payments or that you have applied for an address change and the procedure is on. Please take it as a red flag. This could affect your professional life also.

7. You are suddenly asked to pay more interest

You receive a letter from the bank asking you to pay more interest on your loan or other such investment. This shows that someone has been tampering with your account. Identity thieves also tend to take loans under your name.

8. You have more accounts than you know

People who steal identities also open accounts under the victim’s name in other banks. They steal money from your accounts and keep it in other accounts. If you find more accounts than those you have opened, it is best to go to the bank and make necessary changes or close those accounts and open new ones.
