10 Disadvantages of a Boarding School

6. Boarding schools make children independent much before time

There is always the option of moving out of house after school life is over. If one really wants to teach their children how to live on their own, there is always the option of sending them away for college when they have a full grown personality of their own. By doing this, you give your child a chance to have a perfect balance of both the worlds and don’t push him into independence at a young age, especially when it’s not even that necessary.

7. A child needs his/her family to cope with things

There are so many situations in life for which a child needs his/her family. There is major educational coping up that children have to go through in their school life. If they are left all alone to deal with all this, they might have a nervous breakdown. They always need family to cope up with things in their life, otherwise they start to feel that they are unwanted in this world.

8. Home can give the child proper nourishment

There is a certain kind of nourishment that a child requires in his growing up years. For that, there is a certain kind of care required. This kind of care and nourishment is impossible to get away from home. It is important to keep your child under your care and make sure that he/she is growing up to be a healthy child. You need to give your child the perfect diet. You need to make sure that your child is involved in some or the other physical activity. He/she should also have a proper sleeping pattern. All this, and many more things help in the overall nourishment of your child, which boarding schools may not be able to take care of, considering there are too many students under one hostel warden to supervise. At home, you can give individual attention to your child.

9. You’ll miss out on important childhood memories

There are so many things that your child experiences in his growing up years. You would not want to miss out on any of that, like the first bicycle ride, the first time he scored a football goal, or the first song she played on the piano. These are moments that make exceptional memories that you would want to think about and cherish later. After all, these years are very crucial in a child’s life, and you should be a part of them at any cost. Do not miss out on the chance of being a companion to your child through his/her ups and downs in life.

10. You can’t keep an eye on your child

Often, children go to boarding schools and pick up bad habits under peer pressure. Some of them start smoking and drinking at a very early age. You can always keep a watch on them by keeping them around you in their schooling days. There is no guarantee that they would not indulge in these activities in your supervision, but at least the chances will be less.

Due to all these reasons, you should think twice before putting your child in a boarding school. A child needs your care, help, and of course your presence in his/her growing up years. You should not deprive the child of any of it.
