9 Tips to be a Great Host

6. Take special care with the food

Food is the most important aspect, since the variety, the way it’s served, drinks complementing them, all of them can make or break the party. If most of your friends are alcohol lovers, then don’t hesitate to keep drinks at the party. Similarly, if you are inviting some people who are vegetarian or vegan, keep such dishes for them too. Don’t leave everything to the caterers and make sure you sample the food before keeping it at the party. Also, see to it that there are starters and sodas or juices being served before the actual dinner or lunch.

7. Mingle with everyone

Mingling with each and every guest in the venue and making them feel welcome is a sign of a great host. Don’t let anyone feel left out and make sure you have interacted with everyone of them, even if there are more than a 100 guests.

8. Keep up the entertainment

A good, or rather great host, never lets the party lose steam and fizzle out. Conversations can get boring, people may get restless, but hosting is all about keeping the atmosphere charged and the guests entertained. If you feel the function is not going that well, you can organize fun games or crack one liners and jokes.

9. Distribute return gifts

Lastly, to keep the memory of your great party etched in the minds of your guests for a long time, give each one of them a token of thanks in the form of a return gift. It need not be anything big or expensive, it could be something small and meaningful, such as little pouches of chocolates, sweet boxes, trinkets, playing card sets, etc.
