5.Go the extra mile

Sometimes doing your job may not be enough for a promotion. In competitive work environments where everyone is vying for a raise and are doing their work efficiently, you need to do the extra effort that will make you stand out.

6.Don’t get into arguments

Getting into silly arguments and tiffs at the workplace is never advisable. Anything that bothers you can and should be talked out. At least till you get the promotion, try to stay away from situations that may lead to arguments.

7.Don’t bitch

An office is not a place to make friends. So, though you ought to be friendly with everyone don’t become so close to anyone that you start gossiping and bitching about your other colleagues with them. You never know when they may blab out such things and make you look like the evil gossiper at work whom everyone shuns.

8.Follow the rules

Each company has a set of rules, regulations and protocols that are expected to be followed by all employees. As much as you may not like, or agree with these dos and don’ts, you have to follow them properly to make your employees believe that you are reliable enough to get promoted.
