It is unlikely you haven’t heard of Windows 8. The latest iteration of Windows operating system is nothing like its predecessor and reportedly has a steep learning curve. Does the newest operating system touted to bring uniformity across all monitors, i.e laptops, tablets and phones, actually live up to its promise? Read on to know some of the advantages of Windows 8.

1. The design

Change, especially in terms of looks, is always good. And Windows 8 promises a completely different look. The interface comprises of tiles which not only look good but provide app like functionality which we have increasingly become used to on our phones.

2. Skydrive integration

Using your Microsoft account or Windows account, you can link all your documents and files to Skydrive, allowing you to make all of it easily accessible wherever you go. Thus you can log into any machine without worrying about resuming your work. It ‘ll be there!

3. Combination of work and play

Tablets are primarily consumption devices providing consumers a portable easy to use entertaining experience, while the laptops are powerful machines meant to do ‘serious’ computing and other workplace related activities. What Windows 8 has set out to do is somehow merge the two together. It has tried to create an interface which is customized for both touch and mouse input. The greatest advantage of this will be in tablets, where you’ll be able to watch movies and do other fun stuff with it normally, and attach a keyboard and access the power of Microsoft Office when you want to get real work done.

4. Security

Windows 8 features some of the most advanced security features currently present on any operating system. The security system of Windows 8 is a huge upgrade over Windows 7. So much so that Windows 8 can function against most common virus and other internet threats without any special third party security suite.
