There are different kinds of alcohol. They come in different flavours, are made of different things and smell and taste different. Whatever they are made of, be it beer, whiskey, rum, vodka or wine and more, they all have one thing in common. They impair your normal senses. As far stretched as it may sound, the fact remains that when you drink alcohol, you do tend to loosen up and react different to things. Not only that things or people may seem to be more attractive to you when you are drunk and you are prone to making awkward or stupid decisions when you have had a little too much to drink. That is not all; there are more downsides to drinking alcohol than having a few hours of drunken fun and here are a few of the downsides.

1. It is bad for your health

Drinking too much alcohol on a regular basis can be extremely bad for your health. Alcohol affects your liver, damaging it beyond repair. It also affects your nervous system that can have adverse effects on how your limbs function and your body moves. Alcohol is also known to damage your eyesight.

2. It slows down your reaction time

When you are drunk or have had a little too much to drink, the time you take to react to a situation is slowed down. Impaired judgement and slow decision making have been a cause for numerous drunken driving accidents.

3. It makes you say stupid things

Most people have a story to tell when it comes to funny antics after drinking. Be it in high school (mostly underage drinking), college or workplace, there is always a story involving you. It could be you professing your love to total strangers in a bar or blurting out embarrassing truths about family and friends in a party.

4. It could get you arrested

Although celebrities make big news about getting arrested on DUI charges and their eventual admission into rehab, the truth is almost every day there is someone who gets arrested or goes to prison on charges related to drinking. It could be DUI, battery after a few drinks or obscene behaviour.
