6 Tips to Overcome the Urge to Smoke

When smoking becomes a habit, quitting such a habit isn’t easy. You need to constantly remind yourself when you get the urge that it is a bad habit and has adverse effects on your body. Here are 5 tips to overcome the urge to smoke.

1. Avoid being around smokers

If you are around people who smoke at your workplace during breaks or at smoking zones in parties, then you will obviously feel the urge to smoke. When all the people around you are smoking and you are doing passive smoking then you would obviously get the urge to do it. Hence the best solution is to walk away from people who are smoking around you, and avoid going to such places where people stand in groups and smoke.

2. Get involved in physical activities

Instead of indulging in the unhealthy habit of smoking, get involved in any healthy physical activity that would have good effects on your body. Divert your attention to physical activities. It will help reduce the urge and your body will become healthy.

3. Chew on between intervals

Chew on gum, mint or some raw vegetables, nuts etc. Whenever you feel the urge to smoke, keep these handy and you will successfully overcome the craving because your mouth is busy and your mind is diverted from the thought of smoking.
