Social responsibility is a big word with an even bigger meaning. Some people are born with it, while some try to inculcate it within them, and then there are many who want to have nothing to do with it. The simplest reason is that it is not an easy job to be a socially responsible person. Whether a person is socially responsible or not is defined by his actions which has an effect on his family, his locality, country and even globally. Proper actions from even a single socially responsible person can really change the face of the world for betterment. So, here are 6 signs which will tell you if you are socially responsible.

1. You donate to charity

Donation does not only mean money. You may not be rich enough to donate huge sums of money to some charity but that does not take away your opportunity to be socially responsible. Donation could be clothes, food or even your services. If you go to an old age home once every week and help the people there, or you go around your neighborhood collecting clothes for the children at an orphan institution, that is donation.

2. You boycott illegal products

Illegal products usually refer to smuggled goods. They are cheaper and hence many people prefer to get their hands on them rather than buying the same from a proper shop. Pirated music, movies, games on the internet are also illegal products. If you denounce all such products because you know that they cause a huge loss to the company as well as the government, you are definitely on the right path to being a socially responsible man.

3. You save energy

In a common household, the most consumed energies are electric energy and fuel energy. Water energy isn’t exactly required, but we need plenty of water. While these energies may be available in abundance today, they are not going to last forever. Switching off the air-conditioner, lights, and other appliances when going out of home or when not required, closing the tap after use are all signs of a socially responsible person.
