6 Must know Facts about Male Menopause

4. Varying forms of treatment

There is no prescribed treatment for male menopause because it has not been identified as a condition in the first place. Exercise, balanced diet, prescribed use of multivitamins and maintaining a good work-life balance are recommended as common treatments for male menopause. Many medical experts do not recommend testosterone replacement therapies as they are known to cause unnecessary aggressiveness and other forms of sexual imbalance in men. Such therapies have also been linked to cancer but there is no substantial evidence of the same.

5. Male menopause is not always linked with age

Male menopause is basically linked to a reduced level of testosterone in men that occurs naturally with age. While age is a natural reason for low testosterone, there are other reasons which could also cause the same. Consumption of steroids, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity are also known to significantly contribute to male menopause. So if you are experiencing any symptoms associated with male menopause, they could actually be symptoms of low testosterone, not male menopause.

6. Occurrence

There is no substantial data on the occurrence of medically acknowledged cases of male menopause in men. Since male menopause is not widely accepted as a medical condition, many men are not even aware that it exists. They would consider symptoms of male menopause as biological outcomes of growing old. Experts have found it difficult to quantify the occurrence of male menopause because it is known to remain largely undiagnosed.
