Playing video games for hours on end is fun alright but there is a limit for everything, fun included. Video games shouldn’t be played for more than half an hour a day or one hour if divided into half hour intervals, not at a stretch. You don’t want to end up with any of these problems that video games bring along with them, do you? Enlisted here are some reasons why playing video games is bad for you.

1. Wastes your time

The problem with video games is that they are quite addictive and you can’t just play one. There are sequels and titles coming out, apart from new gaming gadgets, which everyone starts to rave about that makes them all the more tempting. If your friends are as involved in them as you are, then you are bound to make playing video games a priority in your life. Not only can you do a lot of constructive stuff in the time wasted, you can also build your social life or strengthen already existing social bonds; something that will help you a great deal in real life as opposed to the virtual life.

2. Strains your eyes

Just like watching the TV too much leaves you with dry, strained eyes, so does looking at the gaming screen for hours. In fact, gaming affects you more than TV as you have to concentrate more on it. Avoid getting glasses or hampering your vision by not getting into hardcore gaming.

3. Leads to backache

As happens with couch potatoes who watch TV, avid gamers too have to face severe backache in the due course of time. They tend to put on weight due to reduced physical activity. Their posture goes for a toss as they sit glued in one position for long. Hence backache and other related ailments occur frequently among avid gamers.
