Weight lifting is the most popular form of resistance training that helps build muscles. Youngsters all over the world have plunged into the weight lifting workout sessions to gain a muscular body. While some aspire for a ‘V’ shaped pumped body, others such as sportspersons find it immensely helpful in boosting their stamina. However, little do they know that like every other workout in the gym, this too has its share of limitations. 1. Muscle cramps

Excessive or irregular weight lifting leads to stiffness caused by muscular cramps in your shoulders, elbows, waist and even legs. Cramps occur due to a number of different reasons including imbalance in the level of electrolytes, dehydration. You actually end up sweating more water than your body takes in. Thus, this mineral imbalance causes your muscles to cramp.

2. Headache

Excessive weight lifting can cause headache. After every workout session, you must have realized your heart and head pound rigorously. Rigid weight lifting workout sessions can cause blood vessels inside the skull to dilate, causing nerve stressing headaches.

3. Increased sex drive

Successful weightlifting regime requires sufficient consumption of proteins. However, many weight lifting enthusiasts end up exercising more and consuming even more proteins. This directly enhances the testosterone levels which to a certain extent is a plus but beyond that may show harmful effects. It increases your sex drive, which may not be liked by your spouse.
